Place and Power the Block
Craft a
Demagnetizer and place it near the spot you want to protect — a mob farm kill chamber, a quarry drop point, or a storage room floor. The block does not need a redstone signal or fuel to work; simply placing it is enough. Once placed, any dropped item that lands within its working radius will stop being pulled toward nearby players.
Confirm It Is Working
Stand a few blocks away from the Demagnetizer and break a block or kill a mob so an item drops. If the item stays on the ground instead of zipping into your inventory, the block is doing its job. Walk closer to test the boundary — items inside the field stay put, items outside it behave normally. Note that the Demagnetizer only affects *dropped* items; it does not stop items you are actively picking up by walking over them.
Common Uses
- Keep a mob farm's drops on the floor so you can sort them with hoppers instead of vacuuming everything into your inventory.
- Protect a shared storage area so passing players do not accidentally steal your items.
- Pair with hoppers or item pipes to route drops automatically without player interference.
