What to observe

You will not see a message or particle for the rain bonus. The only reliable signal is faster crop stage progression compared to dry weather. Set up a simple side-by-side test: plant the same crop in two plots, cover one with a solid block, and leave the other open.

Step-by-step check

1. Plant identical crops in both plots at the same time.

2. Cover plot A completely so no rain reaches it; leave plot B open.

5. If B is ahead, the mod is working and your open-sky setup is correct.

If nothing changes

Check that the covered plot is genuinely covered and the open plot is genuinely exposed. Verify rain is falling in that biome at that moment. Confirm no other mod or datapack is overriding crop growth. If both plots grow at the same rate across multiple rain events, re-read the configuration section of the wiki, since a setting may be disabling or reducing the effect.
