How do I start using pipes?
Craft wooden pipes and connect them between a container (like a chest) and a machine or another container. Place a redstone torch next to the wooden pipe to activate extraction, and items will begin flowing through the network.
What's the difference between wooden and golden pipes?
Wooden pipes extract items from containers when powered by redstone, while golden pipes don't extract—they only speed up items that are already traveling through your pipe system. Use golden pipes in sections where you want faster transport.
How do diamond pipes work for sorting?
Diamond pipes let you set filters to direct specific items to specific chests. Right-click a diamond pipe to open its interface and assign which items go to which output direction, creating an automated sorting system.
Can I transport liquids like water and lava?
Yes, use fluid pipes to transport liquids between tanks and machines. Connect them the same way you would item pipes, and liquids will flow through the network.
What does the request system do?
The request system lets you ask your pipe network to deliver a specific item to you on demand. Set up a request interface connected to your network, and the system will fetch the item from available storage.
Why aren't items moving through my pipes?
Make sure your wooden pipes are powered by redstone (a redstone torch next to the pipe works). Also check that the pipe is actually connected to a container with items in it and that there's space in the destination.
Do pipes work with all chests and machines?
Pipes connect to most standard containers and machines, but some mods add incompatible blocks. If a container isn't accepting items from pipes, check if it has its own inventory system or if it requires a specific connection method.
How do I set up automatic crafting with crafting walls?
Place a crafting wall next to your pipe network and configure it with the recipe you want to automate. The network will supply ingredients and the crafting wall will produce items automatically, feeding them back into your pipes.
Can I connect multiple networks together?
Pipes form a single connected network as long as they touch each other. If you want separate networks, leave a gap between pipe sections or use different pipe types that don't interconnect.
Do pipes cause lag or performance issues?
Large pipe networks with many active transfers can impact performance depending on your system. Optimize by using golden pipes efficiently, avoiding unnecessary pipe routes, and keeping sorting systems organized.
