Chat Heads can hook into voice chat mods so that the head shown next to a message also tells you who is currently talking. This is the feature most people mean when they ask about "integration."
What the integration actually does
With a supported voice chat mod present, Chat Heads can display a speaking indicator — typically a
highlight, outline, or icon on the head — while that player's microphone is active. It doesn't add voice chat by itself. You need the voice chat mod installed and working first; Chat Heads only decorates the chat and head display.
Setting it up
1. Confirm your voice chat mod is installed and that you can hear other players.
2. Open the Chat Heads config and find the voice chat section.
3. Enable the voice chat integration toggle.
4. If there's a choice between indicator styles, pick one and test it in a group call.
Troubleshooting
If the indicator never appears, the usual cause is a version mismatch between the two mods — the integration only works when both are built for the same game version. If heads show but never light up, check that the voice chat mod's own HUD is working; if its icons are missing too, the problem is there, not in Chat Heads. Also note that on servers where voice chat is proxied or disabled, the indicator has nothing to react to.
