Heads next to every message look great until a busy server floods your chat. Here's how to keep the feature without losing screen space.
Tune the display options
Open the Chat Heads config and look for size and scale controls. Shrinking the head size is the single biggest win — a smaller head still identifies the speaker but takes far less room. If there's an option for head shape or style (square versus round, for example), pick whichever reads more cleanly at small sizes for you.
Control when heads appear
Many players only want heads for certain message types. Check whether the config lets you limit heads to player chat and exclude system messages, server broadcasts, or command output. Excluding non-player messages removes most of the visual noise on servers that spam announcements.
Reduce overlap with other HUD mods
If you run a chat overhaul or HUD mod, the two can fight over the same screen area. Look for an offset or padding setting in Chat Heads and nudge the heads so they don't sit on top of timestamps, chat tabs, or a minimap. Test by opening chat with a full backlog and adjusting until nothing overlaps.
When to just turn it off
If you're recording, streaming, or playing on a tiny window, the config toggle to disable heads entirely is worth knowing. You can flip it back on later without uninstalling anything.
