How to Tame Birds in the Exotic Birds Mod

Taming Basics

Taming in Exotic Birds works differently from wolves or cats. Once adult, most species can be tamed by feeding them their preferred food.

Step-by-Step Taming

1. Hatch or find an adult bird.

2. Hold the correct food item in your main hand. Common taming foods include seeds (wheat, melon, pumpkin, beetroot) for smaller birds, and raw fish or meat for larger species like pelicans or flamingos.

3. Right-click the bird repeatedly with the food until hearts appear, indicating successful taming.

4. A tamed bird will follow you and can be commanded to sit or stay.

After Taming

• Tamed birds can be bred by feeding two tamed adults their preferred food.
• Use a bird cage or birdhouse to store and transport tamed birds safely.
• Some species, once tamed, will perch on your shoulder or follow you through the air.

Notes

• If right-clicking does nothing, you are likely holding the wrong food or the bird is still a baby.
