Classic 3D — FAQ
Compatibility
- Other texture packs - Classic 3D ships almost no textures of its own, so it layers on top of a texture pack and borrows that pack's art for the new geometry. Put Classic 3D above the texture pack in the selected list.
- Shaders - works, and generally benefits: the extra geometry gives shaders real edges to shade and cast shadows from.
- Other 3D model packs - these will conflict where they cover the same block, since only one model definition can win. Whichever pack sits higher takes that block.
- Servers - purely client side. Nothing needs to be installed anywhere but on your own machine.
It also ships its own title-screen panorama, which is what you see behind the main menu once the pack is active.
Notes
- The effect is easiest to see at a raking angle in daylight, where the new edges cast their own shadows. A screenshot of one flat wall looks nearly identical to vanilla.
- Stair corners are worth a look: the inner and outer shapes are modelled separately, so a staircase that turns still lines up.
- Copper doors keep the correct look across all four weathering stages.
- Safe to add to or remove from any world at any time.
