Campanion Mod — Guide
Equipment & Storage
One of the core pillars of Campanion is expanding the player's ability to carry items and navigate the world.
Backpacks
Backpacks are essential for long journeys. They are worn in the chestplate slot and can be opened using a hotkey (default 'B').
| Item | Storage Capacity | Crafting Key Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Day Pack | 9 Slots (1 row) | Leather Pouch, String, Rope |
| Camping Pack | 18 Slots (2 rows) | Tanned Leather Pouch, Rope |
| Hiking Pack | 27 Slots (3 rows) | 2x Tanned Leather Pouch, Rope |
Grappling Hooks
The Grappling Hook is a mobility tool that allows players to scale cliffs or escape dangerous situations. When fired at a block, it pulls the player toward the impact point. It has a base durability of 120 uses and can be enchanted with Unbreaking and Mending.
Spears
Spears are versatile throwable weapons available in all standard material tiers. They can be used for melee combat or thrown at distant targets by holding and releasing the right-click button.
| Material | Melee Damage | Throw Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Stone | 5 | 6 |
| Iron | 6 | 7 |
| Gold | 5 | 6 |
| Diamond | 7 | 8 |
| Netherite | 8 | 9 |
Camping Gear
Campanion provides several options for sleeping and decorating your campsite.
Tents
Tents come in two sizes: Small and Large. To use a tent, you must first craft the tent and a Tent Bag, then combine them in a crafting grid.
- Placement: Right-click with a Tent Bag to see a placement preview. Left-click to rotate the tent and right-click to finalize placement.
- Customization: Tents can be dyed any of the 16 Minecraft colors.
- Functionality: Tents provide a sheltered area where players can place sleeping bags or chests. Large tents are big enough for multiple players.
Sleeping Bags
Sleeping bags are portable beds that allow players to skip the night without resetting their spawn point. This is ideal for travelers who do not want to lose their home base location. They have a durability of 250 uses and can be dyed.
Lawn Chairs
Lawn chairs are decorative blocks that players can sit in. They are crafted using sticks, planks, and wool carpet. Like tents, they can be dyed any color to match your campsite's aesthetic.
Construction & Utility
Rope Bridges
Rope bridges allow for safe passage across ravines and rivers. 1. Place two Rope Bridge Posts at the desired start and end points. 2. Right-click the first post with Rope. 3. Right-click the second post to complete the bridge. The amount of rope consumed depends on the distance between the posts.
Rope Ladders
Rope ladders are placed on the side of a block and automatically extend downward to the ground or the bottom of a pit. Breaking the top ladder block will cause the entire ladder to drop as items, making them easy to retrieve after descending.
Flares & Skipping Stones
- Flares: Crafted from coal/charcoal and paper. When thrown, they emit light and can be used to signal other players or illuminate dark caves.
- Skipping Stones: Crafted from a single stone block. When thrown at water at a shallow angle, they skip across the surface.
Mechanics & Systems
Leather Tanning
To create high-tier backpacks and tent bags, players must use the Tanning Rack. 1. Craft a Tanning Rack using sticks. 2. Place a piece of Leather on the rack by right-clicking. 3. Wait for the leather to "tan" in the sun (it will visibly darken). 4. Right-click to retrieve the Tanned Leather.
Campfire Smoke Coloring
Players can change the color of the smoke particles rising from a campfire by right-clicking the campfire with any dye. This effect is temporary but provides a great way to mark locations or decorate a base.
Howling Wolves
During full moons or at specific times during the night, wild wolves will occasionally howl at the moon. This is a purely atmospheric feature designed to enhance the immersion of the Minecraft wilderness.
