How to Build and Use a Rover for Surface Exploration

Craft the rover parts

A Rover lets you cross planetary surfaces far faster than walking, which matters because Ad Astra planets are large and hostile. You need a Rover chassis or body, wheels, and a power source. The mod's Rover is assembled from steel and tier-appropriate materials; check the crafting recipes in JEI or the mod's guidebook for the exact parts. You also need a power source — the Rover runs on energy, so craft an Etrionic Capacitor or similar battery and charge it before you deploy.

Deploy and drive

Place the assembled Rover on the ground and right-click to enter. Use standard movement keys to drive; the Rover handles rough terrain better than walking and protects you from some environmental hazards. Keep an eye on its energy meter — when it drains, you must recharge it at a charging station or swap in a fresh battery. Carry a spare power cell on long expeditions.

Pair it with your base

Park the Rover near your lander or base so you can recharge and resupply easily. Use it to scout for ore deposits, locate dungeons, and return quickly when your oxygen runs low. A Rover plus a full Oxygen Tank and spare fuel makes surface exploration on the Moon, Mars, and beyond far safer.
