Use I18nglish to Read Abbreviated English Text

Understanding I18nglish Format

I18nglish is a playful language option that shrinks English words by keeping only the first and last letters and replacing everything in between with a number. For example, "Inventory" might become "I8y" (I + 8 letters + y).

Switch to I18nglish

Open your Language settings and select I18nglish from the available options. All English text in menus, item names, tooltips, and interface elements will convert to this abbreviated format.

Reading the Abbreviations

Once you switch, you'll need to decode the numbers:

  • Count the letters between the first and last letter of the original word
  • That count becomes the number shown
  • With practice, you'll recognize common words quickly

This mode turns reading your game into a puzzle. It's useful for players who want a challenge or a novelty way to experience Minecraft's interface. If you find it too difficult to read, simply switch back to your normal language in the same settings menu.
