Switch Between Chinese and English Phonetic Formats
Understanding the Two Text Systems
This pack handles English and Chinese text separately:
- English text converts to formats like Katakana, I18nglish, or Man'yōgana
- Chinese text converts to Pinyin, Wade-Giles, Bopomofo, Xiao'erjing, and other romanization systems
If your game displays both languages, selecting one phonetic option will only affect its corresponding text type.
Choose Your Preferred Format
In Language settings, pick the option that matches what you want to read:
- For English speakers wanting a challenge: try Katakana or I18nglish
- For Chinese learners: try Pinyin (most common) or Bopomofo (phonetic symbols)
- For alternative systems: Wade-Giles and Yale offer historical Chinese romanization
- For unique looks: Xiao'erjing (Arabic script) or Cyrillic (Palladius) provide distinctive visual styles
Switching Back
You can change formats anytime through the Language menu. Each selection takes effect immediately, so experiment to find what works best for your playstyle.
