Adjust Fog Density and Distance
Why Fog Matters
United Shaders generates thick environmental fog to create depth and atmosphere. However, dense fog can reduce visibility and affect gameplay. You can customize fog to match your preference and render distance.
Modify Fog Settings
1. Open Options → Video Settings → Shaders or Shader Options
2. Find Fog Density, Fog Distance, or Volumetric Fog settings
3. Adjust the slider:
- Lower values: Clearer view of distant terrain, less atmospheric effect
- Higher values: Thicker fog, reduced visibility, stronger depth perception
4. Save and observe the changes in your world
Balancing Visibility and Atmosphere
- Exploration: Use lower fog density to see landmarks from farther away
- Immersion: Higher density creates a mysterious, enclosed feeling
- Performance: Thicker fog can slightly improve frame rates by reducing distant rendering
- Render Distance: Match fog density to your render distance—high density with low render distance looks natural
Fog also intensifies during rain and storms, so test adjustments in different weather conditions.
