United Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on United Shaders after installing it?
Launch Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then select United Shaders from the list. The shader will activate immediately.
Which performance profile should I use?
Start with the Low profile if your computer struggles to maintain smooth framerates, Medium for balanced visuals and performance, or High if you have a powerful GPU and want maximum visual quality.
Why does my game look too dark or too bright with this shader?
Adjust your in-game brightness slider in Video Settings, or customize the colored lighting effects through the shader's settings menu to reduce or increase light intensity from blocks and sources.
Can I make the fog thinner or thicker?
Yes—open the shader settings menu while in-game and look for fog density and distance options to adjust how thick the environmental fog appears and how far you can see.
Does United Shaders work with other mods?
United Shaders is compatible with most mods, but mods that heavily alter lighting, water rendering, or sky visuals may conflict; test your setup in a test world first if you're unsure.
Why are my shadows flickering or looking strange?
This often happens at lower performance profiles or with certain shadow settings; try increasing your shadow quality in the shader options, or switch to a higher performance profile if your GPU can handle it.
Does this shader work on servers?
Shaders only affect your client's visuals and do not require server support, so you can use United Shaders on any server you can normally join.
How do I disable the shader without uninstalling it?
Go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders and select 'Off' or 'None' at the top of the shader list to disable it while keeping the mod installed.
Why is my water looking weird or not rendering correctly?
Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date, and try adjusting the water quality setting in the shader options; if the problem persists, try switching to a different performance profile.
Can I customize how shadows look during different times of day?
Yes—the shader automatically adjusts shadow direction and intensity as the sun and moon move, but you can fine-tune shadow strength and softness in the shader settings menu to suit your preference.
