Gather Basic Materials
Start by collecting the materials needed for a tier 1 backpack. You'll need leather and wood—both common early-game resources. Leather drops from cows, and wood comes from any tree. Check your mod's crafting recipes in-game using your recipe viewer or the crafting table.
Use the Crafting Table
Open a crafting table and arrange your materials according to the tier 1 backpack recipe. The exact pattern depends on your modpack's configuration, but typically backpacks follow a rectangular or hollow square layout. Craft the backpack and it will appear in your inventory.
Equip and Use Your Backpack
Once crafted, place the backpack in your inventory. Right-click it to open its storage interface. You now have portable inventory space that travels with you. Items stored inside remain there even if you close and reopen the backpack, making it ideal for gathering resources without returning to base.
Plan Your Upgrades
Note how many slots your tier 1 backpack has. As you progress and gather better materials, you'll be able to craft higher-tier backpacks with more storage capacity.
