Maximize Storage Efficiency
Understand Slot Capacity
Each backpack tier has a fixed number of storage slots. Higher tiers offer more slots, but even tier 1 backpacks provide significant portable storage compared to carrying items loose in your inventory. Plan which items deserve backpack space.
Prioritize High-Value Items
Store rare or important items in your backpack: enchanted tools, valuable ores, crafting materials, and food. Leave common blocks like dirt or cobblestone in chests at your base to save backpack space for irreplaceable items.
Use Shulker Boxes Inside Backpacks
If your modpack includes Shulker Boxes, place them inside your backpack. Each Shulker Box holds 27 items, effectively multiplying your storage capacity. This is one of the most efficient ways to maximize portable inventory.
Combine with Chests at Base
Backpacks are meant for *portable* storage, not permanent storage. Use them to carry resources between your base and work sites. Store bulk materials in organized chests at home, and use backpacks only for active projects.
Upgrade When Needed
If you constantly run out of space, it's time to craft a higher-tier backpack. This signals you're ready for the next progression step.
