Mobs and NPCs

The mod adds hundreds of NPCs, ranging from peaceful villagers to legendary monsters.

Bosses

  • Balrog: A massive fiery demon found in Utumno. It uses a whip and sword, dealing massive fire damage. Drops the Flame of Udûn.
  • Mallorn Ent: A giant tree-boss spawned by attacking Mallorn trees in Fangorn. Drops Ent-draught.
  • Hill-Troll Chieftain: A powerful troll leader found in the Ettenmoors.

Items and Equipment

Equipment in the LOTR mod is categorized by material and faction. Most gear is superior to vanilla Diamond.

Weapon Types

  • Swords: Standard damage and speed.
  • Battleaxes: High damage, slower speed, can harvest wood.
  • Hammers: High damage, slow speed, high knockback.
  • Spears: Increased reach (150%), can be thrown.
  • Pikes: Double reach (200%), very slow speed.
  • Daggers: Fast attack speed, short reach, can be poisoned.

Reforging

You can reforge your gear at a Smith NPC using Silver Coins. Reforging adds modifiers like: * Keen: +Damage * Tough: +Protection * Enduring: +Durability * Swift: +Attack Speed

Blocks and Ores

The mod introduces hundreds of decorative and functional blocks.

New Ores

  • Mithril Ore: The rarest ore, found only at low levels in the Misty Mountains. Requires a Dwarven Pickaxe or better.
  • Copper & Tin: Used to create Bronze.
  • Silver: Used for trading and crafting high-end decorative blocks.
  • Gulduril: Found in Dol Guldur and Morgul biomes, used for evil sorcery items.

Faction Crafting Tables

Each faction has its own crafting table (e.g., Gondorian Crafting Table, Orcish Crafting Table). These are required to craft faction-specific armor and weapons. You must have at least +1 alignment with a faction to use their table.
