Tea Kettle Mod — Guide

Tea Bushes

Tea Bushes are the primary source of tea leaves in the mod. They are naturally occurring plants that can be found and cultivated by the player.

Spawning and Growth

  • Location: Tea bushes naturally spawn in various Forest biomes, including Birch Forests and Dark Forests.
  • Harvesting: Breaking a tea bush will drop Tea Leaves. Using Shears on a mature bush allows for a more efficient harvest, often yielding more leaves and occasionally Tea Seeds for replanting.
  • Cultivation: Tea seeds can be planted on grass or dirt blocks. They grow through several stages and can be accelerated using Bone Meal.

Equipment

To brew tea, players must craft and utilize two main items: the Kettle and the Tea Cup.

The Kettle

The Kettle is a functional block used to boil water and steep tea leaves. * Placement: The Kettle must be placed on top of a heat source to function. Valid heat sources include Fire, Campfires, Magma Blocks, Lit Furnaces, Smokers, and Blast Furnaces. * Usage: 1. Right-click the Kettle with a Water Bucket to fill it. 2. Wait for the water to boil; the Kettle will begin emitting steam particles once ready. 3. Add Tea Leaves by right-clicking the boiling Kettle. 4. Once the tea is steeped, use an empty Tea Cup on the Kettle to fill it.

The Tea Cup

The Tea Cup is the vessel used to consume the brewed tea. It is a reusable item that remains in the player's inventory after the tea is finished.

Tea Varieties and Lattes

The mod includes six base tea varieties and four latte variations. Each can be further customized with sweeteners.

Tea Type Ingredients Primary Effect
Green Tea Fresh Tea Leaves Caffeine I
Black Tea Withered/Smelted Tea Leaves Caffeine II
White Tea Young Tea Leaves Zen I
Oolong Tea Partially Oxidized Leaves Caffeine I, Zen I
Herbal Tea Various Flowers Regeneration
Floral Tea Rose/Dandelion Resistance

Lattes and Sweeteners

  • Lattes: By combining a brewed tea cup with a Milk Bucket (or bottle), players can create Lattes. Lattes generally provide a longer duration for the status effects and restore more hunger.
  • Sweetening: Adding Sugar or Honey to a cup of tea will extend the duration of the effects. Honey-sweetened teas often provide a stronger version of the base effect (e.g., Caffeine II instead of Caffeine I).

Status Effects

The Tea Kettle mod introduces two unique mechanics that change how players interact with the game world.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant effect obtained from Green, Black, and Oolong teas. * Buffs: Grants Speed and Haste levels based on the strength of the tea. * Drawback: While under the influence of Caffeine, the player is "too excited" to sleep. Attempting to use a bed will result in a message stating the player cannot rest yet.

Zen

Zen is a calming effect obtained from White and Herbal teas. * Daytime Sleep: The Zen effect allows players to sleep in a bed during the daytime. * Time Manipulation: Sleeping while the Zen effect is active will advance time to the beginning of the next night (dusk) rather than the morning. This is particularly useful for players who wish to hunt mobs or work under cover of darkness. * Caffeine Neutralization: Consuming a Zen-based tea will immediately clear any active Caffeine effects.
