Make Nighttime Visibility Better for Mining and Exploration

Adjust Night Lighting

REAlite Shaders provides control over how dark nights appear. Open shader settings and find the Lighting, Night, or Ambient Light section.

Increase Visibility Without Breaking Immersion

  • Ambient Brightness: Raise this slider to brighten unlit areas at night. This helps you navigate caves and mines without torches feeling unrealistic.
  • Moon Brightness: Increase moonlight intensity so nights aren't pitch-black, making outdoor exploration safer.
  • Block Shadows: Soften shadows further to reduce harsh dark patches that obscure details.

Combine with In-Game Lighting

REAlite works best when you use torches, lanterns, and other light sources strategically. The shader enhances these light sources' natural spread. Place torches more frequently in mines rather than relying solely on shader brightness. This maintains atmosphere while keeping gameplay functional. If nights still feel too dark after adjusting, verify your monitor brightness isn't set too low—shader settings interact with your display's contrast.
