Adjust Shadow Intensity and Darkness

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings). Look for the Project Shaders configuration panel.

Modify Shadow Parameters

Locate shadow-related sliders, typically labeled as shadow distance, shadow darkness, or penumbra size. These control how dark shadows appear and how far they spread from objects.

  • Increase shadow darkness to create more dramatic contrast between lit and shadowed areas
  • Decrease shadow darkness for softer, more ambient lighting
  • Adjust shadow distance to control how shadows spread outward from their source

Fine-Tune for Your Preference

Changes apply in real-time, so move sliders gradually and observe how caves, overhangs, and building interiors respond. Shadows under trees and cliffs should feel natural rather than harsh or washed out. Test during different times of day—morning shadows behave differently than noon shadows due to sun angle simulation.

If performance drops significantly, reduce shadow distance or quality settings rather than eliminating shadows entirely.
