Basalt and
Marble
Project Red Exploration adds basalt and marble as world-generation decorative stone types. You will find them underground alongside normal stone. Both come in multiple forms: raw Basalt and Marble,
Basalt Cobblestone,
Marble Brick, and wall variants of each. Mine them with a pickaxe as you explore, and collect cobblestone variants when you break the raw blocks if your pickaxe does not have silk touch.
Crafting the Decorative Variants
Once you have raw basalt or marble, you can craft them into bricks and walls.
Basalt Brick and Marble Brick give a cleaner, more constructed look, while Basalt Cobblestone and its wall variant offer a rougher texture. Walls are useful for fencing, trim, and detailing. Combine the different forms — raw, cobblestone, brick, and wall — in a single build to create texture variation instead of a flat, single-block wall.
Design Ideas
Use marble for bright, clean interiors such as floors, pillars, and accent walls. Use basalt for darker, moodier builds like dungeons, fireplaces, and exterior foundations. Mix basalt brick with basalt cobblestone for a weathered castle look, and cap walls with matching wall blocks for a finished edge. Because these blocks are purely decorative, there is no wrong way to use them — experiment with patterns and let the contrast between light marble and dark basalt define your build's palette.
