How to Get Started with Project Red Exploration Ores and Tools
Finding Your First Ores
Project Red Exploration adds several ores to world generation: ruby, sapphire, peridot, electrotine, silver, and tin. Ruby, sapphire, and peridot spawn in both stone and deepslate variants, so you will find them at different depths. Electrotine is the mod's signature redstone-like ore and appears in both stone and deepslate forms. Silver and tin also generate underground. Grab a standard pickaxe and mine downward or explore caves until you spot these distinct ore textures.
Crafting Your First Tools
Once you have materials, focus on the mod's utility tools rather than jumping straight to armor. Saws are used for cutting wood-related blocks more efficiently, while sickles are for harvesting plants and crops in an area. Start with an
iron sickle or
gold saw if you have the materials, since these are entry-level versions. Peridot tools and armor exist as a full set — axe, helmet, chestplate, boots — so peridot is a good early-game armor material if you find enough of the gem. Electrotine can be crafted into an
Electrotine Block for storage or decoration.
Decorative Blocks to Collect
While mining, you will also run into
basalt and
marble in various forms: raw blocks, cobblestone, bricks, and walls. These are purely decorative but great for building. Collect them as you explore so you have a stockpile for later construction projects.
