Create a Branching Skill Tree
Building Non-Linear Progression
Design a skill tree where players choose different paths instead of following a single linear progression.
Steps:
1. Open /pstages editor
2. Create multiple stages that represent different skill branches
3. Set dependencies so certain stages require others as prerequisites
4. Leave some stages independent so players can choose which to unlock first
5. Assign items and blocks to each branch
6. Save and test by checking /stage to see the visual map
Viewing Your Tree
Players see the full progression map when they use /stage, /stages, or /ps. The map displays which stages are unlocked, which are locked, and what prerequisites block access to future stages. Hidden stages only appear on the map once their prerequisites are met, creating a sense of discovery. This approach works well for skill-based progression, tech trees, or secret unlock paths that reveal themselves as players advance.
