You can heal a hurt pet bat by crafting it with pumpkin pie or by dropping pumpkin pie for it to feed on. Only freshly dropped pie counts.
What happens when my Pet Bat dies?
Upon death it returns as an item to your inventory and must be fed before it can fly again. If you are not on the server when it dies, it really dies and is lost.
Can other players feed or startle my Pet Bat?
Foreign players can feed them pumpkin pie by dropping it nearby. A bat can also be startled from its hanging spot by a foreign player, by attacks, by breaking the block, or by dropping pumpkin pie.
Are pet bats immune to fire, lava, or explosions?
No, bats are not fire or lava proof and are not particularly resistant to explosions.
