OptiFine HD 9minecraft — Guide

Key Features

  • Massive FPS boost – a modern rendering engine dramatically increases frame rates and reduces lag spikes.
  • Shader support – load your favorite shader packs for realistic lighting, shadows, water and skies.
  • Zoom – hold a key to zoom in, just like the classic OptiFine zoom.
  • Fullbright – brighten the world so caves and night are fully visible.
  • Connected textures (CTM) – seamless glass and blocks with supported resource packs.
  • Custom entity models & textures (CEM/CET) – resource packs can reshape and retexture mobs.
  • Advanced video settings – fine-grained options for clouds, fog, particles and more.
  • Great mod compatibility – designed to run alongside the vast majority of popular mods.

Controls & Usage

  • Zoom: hold the Zoom key (default C) while in-game to zoom in; release to zoom out. You can rebind it under Options → Controls.
  • Fullbright: bind the Fullbright key under Options → Controls, then press it to toggle full brightness.
  • Video settings: open Options → Video Settings for the expanded performance and quality options.

Using Shaders

  1. Download a shader pack (a .zip file).
  2. In-game, open Options → Video Settings → Shaders and click the shader-packs folder button.
  3. Drop the shader .zip into that folder.
  4. Select the pack from the list to enable it. Choose a lighter pack if your FPS drops too much.

Performance Tips

  • Start without shaders to enjoy the pure FPS boost, then add shaders if your hardware allows.
  • Lower render distance and disable heavy effects (fog, extra particles) in Video Settings for weaker PCs.
  • Keep your graphics drivers up to date for the best results.
