Core Mechanics

Execration System

Execration represents the spiritual and physical toll the Nether takes on a mortal soul.

  • Accumulation: Players gain 1 point of Execration every 30 seconds spent in the Nether.
  • Thresholds:
  • 0-50: No negative effects.
  • 51-75: Grants Slowness I and Weakness I.
  • 76-99: Grants Mining Fatigue II and Hunger I.
  • 100: The player begins taking 1 heart of magic damage every 2 seconds until they leave the dimension or consume a purifying item.
  • Purification: Execration can be lowered by consuming Purified Flesh (-10 points) or using a Soul Basin to cleanse the player's spirit.

Obtaining Water

In vanilla Minecraft, water evaporates instantly in the Nether. NetherX introduces the Nether Water Condenser, a machine that allows for the creation of 'Heavy Water' or 'Nether Water' which can exist in liquid form despite the heat.

  1. Condensation: Place Ice or Packed Ice into a Condenser.
  2. Fueling: The machine requires Blaze Powder or Magma Cream to maintain the cooling cycle.
  3. Collection: Use a Nether Water Bucket (crafted with Obsidian and Iron) to collect the resulting fluid. This water can be used for farming and extinguishing fires within the dimension.

Mobs

NetherX populates the various biomes of the Nether with creatures that fill specific ecological niches.

Blocks

Functional Blocks

  • Nether Water Condenser: The primary utility block for survival. It features a custom GUI for processing ice into water.
  • Soul Basin: Used to reset Execration levels. Requires Soul Sand and a Soul Heart to activate.
  • Ichor Vat: Used to brew high-tier 'Ichor' fluids for advanced crafting.

Natural Blocks

  • Gloomstone: A dark variant of Glowstone found in the Soul Sand Valley. It emits a dim, purple light (Light Level 7).
  • Nether Iron Ore: Spawns between Y=10 and Y=110. Provides a steady source of iron without returning to the Overworld.
  • Nether Gold Ore: More abundant than vanilla gold ore, found in large veins near the Nether ceiling.
  • Soul Glass: Created by smelting Soul Sand. It is transparent but prevents mobs from seeing through it.

Consumables

  • Purified Flesh: Crafted by smelting Rotten Flesh in a furnace with Soul Sand. Reduces Execration by 10.
  • Nether Fish: Can be cooked to provide 5 hunger points and 2 seconds of Fire Resistance.
