Open the weapon system GUI with the "BG" button in the top left of your inventory, then set a mainhand and offhand weapon. You can store up to 3 weapon sets and switch between them with the 'R' key.

When dual wielding, the left mouse button attacks with the mainhand (right) weapon and the right mouse button attacks with the offhand (left) weapon or blocks with a shield.

Blocking with a shield reduces all blockable damage from the front 120 degree arc, but it uses a stamina bar shown above your health and armour icons. You can also perform a shield bash with the special action key ('Z' by default) to knock back mobs in front of you.

Place the shield by itself in the crafting matrix; the arrows will be added to your inventory when you retrieve the shield.

Place 2 iron ingots in a vertical arrangement in a crafting grid to get 3 chain links, then use the chain links to make chainmail armour.

The quiver is crafted with leather and arrows. It holds four times more arrows than a normal arrow stack and can be emptied by right clicking.

With a bow equipped, a custom bar appears showing the quiver's slots, and you switch between slots with the special action key ('Z' by default).

Fire arrows set things on fire, explosive arrows explode, ender arrows teleport, poison arrows give a wither effect on hit, piercing arrows go through armour and glass, mystery arrows have weird effects, and leech arrows drain enemy lifeforce to heal you.

Yes, shields and quivers can be dyed similar to leather armour. To remove the dye, place a water bucket in the crafting grid with the shield or quiver.

Press the special action key ('Z' by default) to knock back any mob in front of you. It costs a third of your stamina bar and prevents you from attacking for half a second.
