Open Advanced Shader Options
Access the shader settings menu (usually via pause menu → Video Settings → Shader Options). Look for Shadow or Lighting subsections.
Fine-Tune Shadow Settings
Most shader packs include sliders for:
- Shadow Distance: Controls how far shadows render from your position. Shorter distances improve performance.
- Shadow Softness: Adjusts blur on shadow edges. Higher values create softer, more realistic shadows; lower values give sharper, harder shadows.
- Shadow Intensity: Darkens or lightens shadows overall. Increase for dramatic contrast, decrease for subtle shading.
Test Your Changes
Stand near trees, buildings, or terrain during daytime and observe how shadows fall. Adjust sliders incrementally—large changes can make the world look unnatural.
Night-Time Adjustments
Shadows are less visible at night, but you may want to increase overall brightness or reduce shadow intensity to prevent caves and overhangs from becoming pitch-black.
