Configure Shader Settings for Distant Horizons

Farloom Shaders includes dedicated lighting profiles designed to work seamlessly with Distant Horizons. Access the shader options screen (usually Shift+O in-game) and look for Distant Horizons or LOD-specific settings.

Adjust Terrain and Water Lighting

The shader provides separate lighting controls for distant terrain and water surfaces. Enable the Distant Horizons profile if available—this ensures far-away blocks receive appropriate lighting that matches your loaded chunks without creating harsh visual boundaries.

Fine-Tune Render Distance Balance

Increase your Distant Horizons render distance gradually while monitoring performance. Farloom is optimized to maintain clarity across massive ranges, but your system's limits matter. Start at a moderate distance and adjust upward until you notice frame rate drops.

Check Level-of-Detail Transitions

Fly to the edge of your loaded chunks and observe where active terrain meets distant landscape. Clean transitions mean the shader is working correctly. If you see obvious borders or color mismatches, revisit the shader's LOD blending settings and ensure Distant Horizons is properly integrated in your modpack configuration.
