Balancing Quality and Frame Rate

Realistic cloud packs are visually demanding. If you experience frame rate drops:

1. Open Video Settings and reduce Render Distance by 2-4 chunks

2. Set Graphics to Fast instead of Fancy

3. Lower Particles to Minimal

4. Disable Smooth Lighting or set it to Minimum

Cloud-Specific Adjustments

1. In Video Settings, try setting Clouds to Fast instead of Fancy

2. Reduce Cloud Height if the option is available

3. Lower Mipmap Levels to reduce texture memory usage

OptiFine Performance Options

1. Access Options → Video Settings → Performance

2. Enable Fast Math for a small FPS boost

3. Adjust Chunk Updates to a lower value if stuttering occurs

4. Consider enabling Lazy Chunk Loading for smoother exploration

Monitor Your FPS

Press F3 (or Fn + F3 on Mac) to display debug information. Watch your frame rate while looking at the sky — if it dips below your target, apply the adjustments above progressively until performance stabilizes.
