Permission overview
The Distant Horizons Plugin uses two main permissions to control who can run administrative commands.
Setting up permissions
1. Grant admin access:
Give the distant_horizons.admin permission to players or groups who should access /dhs commands. This includes:
/dhs reload– Reload configuration/dhs pregen– Start LOD pre-generation
2. Configure in your permission plugin (LuckPerms, PermissionsEx, etc.):
`
/lp user <player> permission set distant_horizons.admin true
`
Or add to your permission config file:
`
distant_horizons.admin: true
`
Best practices
- Only grant admin permissions to trusted staff (server admins, moderators).
- Pre-generation and reloading affect server performance—restrict access accordingly.
- Regular players don't need these permissions; the mod works automatically for them.
Verify permissions
Have the player run /dhs reload. If they lack permission, they'll see a denial message.
