How do I get my first bird to follow me?
Craft a food bag and feed it to a wild bird until it shows hearts and becomes tamed. Once tamed, the bird will follow you around as a companion and you can see it listed in your bird guide.
Why aren't birds spawning near my base?
Birds spawn naturally in their biome-specific locations, but you can attract them faster by placing a birdbath with water nearby. Make sure you're in a biome where that species actually lives—for example, Night Herons only appear in swamps and rivers.
How do I breed birds and get eggs?
Place a nest block near two tamed birds of the same species, and they'll form a pair and lay eggs naturally over time. The eggs will hatch into chicks that inherit genetic traits from their parents, including feather colors and size.
What do I do with feathers I collect?
Trade feathers with bird researcher villagers in villages to earn emeralds and receive helpful supplies. The more feathers you trade, the better rewards you unlock.
Can I speed up or slow down a bird's growth?
Yes—use special food bags to pause, resume, or speed up a bird's growth stages from chick to adult. This lets you control when your birds reach breeding age or full size.
How do I use the bird guide?
Open your bird guide and press E to customize the book layout and view information about every species you've spotted. It keeps a complete log of all birds you've encountered, including their unique traits.
Do all birds have different appearances?
Yes—every single bird in the mod has unique gender, size, feather color, and growth states, so no two birds look exactly alike. Chicks can also inherit mutations from their parents, creating even more variety.
Which biomes should I explore to find all five bird species?
Budgerigars and Sparrows live in plains and forests, Night Herons spawn in swamps and rivers, Spotted Doves prefer forests and plains, and Pigeons gather in villages. Explore all these biomes to complete your bird collection.
What's the difference between wild birds and tamed birds?
Wild birds fly freely, form natural pairs, and lay eggs in nests without your control. Tamed birds follow you as companions and can be managed with food bags, but they still retain their natural behaviors like nesting and breeding.
