What does MaLiLib Mod do?
MaLiLib is a client-side library that other mods (like Litematica, MiniHUD, and Tweakeroo) depend on to provide their config menus and keybind handling. It adds no blocks, items, or gameplay of its own — you only notice it through the config screens and hotkeys of the mods that use it.
How to use MaLiLib?
You don't interact with MaLiLib directly; instead you open the config menu of a mod that depends on it, such as Litematica or MiniHUD, and edit settings there. MaLiLib is the framework powering those menus, so any option you change in a dependent mod is being saved and applied through MaLiLib.
How to open MaLiLib config menu?
There is no standalone MaLiLib menu — you open the config screen of a dependent mod instead, usually by pressing that mod's config hotkey (often bound to a key like M or via the mod's own keybind) or through the Mod Menu / mod list entry for that mod. The screen you see is rendered by MaLiLib but belongs to the mod you opened.
MaLiLib Mod for litematica
Litematica requires MaLiLib to run, so if you have Litematica installed you already need MaLiLib in the same mod loader profile. All of Litematica's config options, hotkeys, and its in-game config menu are provided through MaLiLib, so updating one usually means updating the other to matching versions.
Do I need MaLiLib if I only use one mod?
Yes, if that mod lists MaLiLib as a dependency. Many popular client-side mods (Litematica, MiniHUD, Tweakeroo, and others) will not load or will crash on startup without MaLiLib present, even if you only use one of them.
MaLiLib config options won't save
Make sure you're editing the config through the dependent mod's own menu rather than a text editor while the game is running, and that you're not overwriting the config file on exit. If a setting reverts, check whether the mod that owns that option has its own save/apply step, and confirm the config file isn't read-only.
MaLiLib keybinds conflict with other mods
MaLiLib keybinds are registered per dependent mod, so conflicts usually come from two mods claiming the same key. Open the config menu of the mod whose hotkey you want to change, find the keybind entry, and rebind it to a free key — MaLiLib will warn you if the key is already taken.
Is MaLiLib client-side or server-side?
MaLiLib is client-side only. You do not need it on a server, and installing it on a server does nothing — it exists purely to support client-side mods on your own game.
Does MaLiLib affect performance or fps?
MaLiLib itself has negligible performance impact since it's just a library providing config and event handling. Any FPS or tick impact you notice comes from the mods that use it (like rendering-heavy mods such as Litematica or MiniHUD), not from MaLiLib directly.
MaLiLib not working / mod won't load
The most common cause is a version mismatch between MaLiLib and the mod that depends on it, or MaLiLib being installed for a different Minecraft version or mod loader than the dependent mod. Make sure MaLiLib matches both the game version and loader of the mods you're using, and that it's in the same mods folder.
