Finding the Config File

After launching the game once with the mod installed, a config file is generated in your instance's config folder. The exact filename matches the mod's internal name. Open it with any plain text editor. Most settings can also be changed in-game through the mod list screen if a config button is available, but editing the file directly gives you access to every option.

Key Settings You Will Want to Change

  • Damage distribution — controls whether incoming damage is split across body parts or concentrated on one. Lowering the spread makes the game easier; raising it makes every hit more punishing.
  • Headshot lethality — determines how dangerous a hit to the head is. Many players reduce this if they find one-shot head deaths too harsh.
  • Bleeding rate — how quickly untreated wounds drain health. Setting this to zero effectively disables the bleeding mechanic while keeping the body-part system.
  • Healing speed — how fast bandages and plasters restore a limb.
  • Disable the mod entirely — some configs include a master toggle. If yours does not, removing the mod from the mods folder is the only way to turn it off.

Applying and Testing Changes

Save the file and fully restart the game — reloading a world is not enough for config changes to take effect. Load a test world, take a hit from a mob, and watch the HUD to confirm your new values are active. If something behaves unexpectedly, revert to the backup copy the mod creates on first run.
