Why Supply Matters
Extended Bone Meal makes Bone Meal useful for far more plants, so you will burn through it much faster than in vanilla. A steady supply is the difference between a working farm and one that stalls.
Two Main Sources
Skeletons: Killing skeletons drops bones, which you craft into Bone Meal. Build a simple mob farm or a skeleton spawner farm to collect bones automatically. A dark room or a spawner-based grinder will keep you stocked.
Composters: Put compostable items into a composter to produce Bone Meal directly. Good inputs include excess crops, seeds, leaves, and saplings. A row of composters fed by your farm's waste products turns trash into fertilizer.
Practical Setup
1. Build a skeleton farm or find a spawner and set up a kill chamber.
2. Collect bones and craft them into Bone Meal in a crafting grid.
3. In parallel, place composters near your farm and fill them with surplus crops and plant matter.
4. Store Bone Meal in a chest next to your fields so it is always within reach.
Using It Efficiently
- Save sneak-growing for crops you need immediately; use normal Bone Meal for gradual growth when you have time.
- Fertilize cactus, sugarcane, vines, and nether wart only when you actually need the output.
- Keep a stack in your offhand while farming so you can fertilize without opening your inventory.
With both sources running, you will never run short.
