Convert Between Nether and Overworld Portal Coordinates

Linking Portals Efficiently

Nether portals in the Nether are 8 times closer together than in the Overworld. Use these commands to find matching coordinates so your portals connect properly.

Converting Overworld to Nether

1. Stand at or note your Overworld coordinates

2. Type /calc nether <x> <y> <z> with your coordinates

3. Press Enter

The result shows where to build your Nether portal so it links back to your Overworld location.

Converting Nether to Overworld

1. Note your Nether coordinates

2. Type /calc overworld <x> <y> <z>

3. Press Enter

This calculates the corresponding Overworld position.

Building Your Portal

Build your Nether portal at the calculated coordinates, and it will connect to your other portal. The Y-coordinate (height) doesn't change between dimensions, so you can keep that the same or adjust for terrain.
