Crafting and Holding the Finder
Once you have a
Gem Finder in your inventory, hold it in your main hand. The tool works passively while held—you do not need to right-click or activate it. As you walk around, it scans the area around you for gem-type ores such as diamonds, emeralds, and other precious stones. When a valid gem ore is within its detection radius, the finder will alert you, typically through a sound cue and a visual indicator.
Reading the Feedback and Digging
Pay attention to the direction and intensity of the signal. Moving closer to the ore usually strengthens the feedback, while moving away weakens it. Use this to triangulate: walk in one direction, note whether the signal gets stronger or weaker, then adjust your path. Once the signal is at its strongest, dig down or toward the source. The finder detects ores through stone, so you may need to mine a short tunnel before you break into the ore vein itself. Keep the finder in hand the whole time so it keeps updating. If the signal disappears, you have likely passed the ore—back up and re-approach from a different angle. Combining the finder with a torch and a pickaxe lets you strip-mine efficiently toward each ping instead of digging blindly.
