What the
Metal Finder Detects
The Metal Finder is tuned to metallic ores rather than gems. Hold it in your main hand and it will scan for metals such as iron, gold, and similar ores in the surrounding area. Like the other finders, it runs continuously while held, so you can simply walk through caves or along a mining tunnel and let it do the work. It does not require fuel or a right-click to start.
Following the Signal to the Vein
When the finder detects a metal ore nearby, it gives you an audible and visual cue. Use the strength of that cue as a proximity guide: the closer you get, the more pronounced the feedback. Sweep the area by walking in a small circle or back and forth along a wall to figure out which direction increases the signal. Once you have a bearing, mine toward the source. Because metals often spawn in veins, expect to find several blocks clustered together rather than a single ore. After you collect the vein, keep the finder equipped and continue on—new pings will guide you to the next deposit. This makes the Metal Finder especially useful for gathering large amounts of iron for tools, armor, and rails without wasting time on empty stone.
