Picking the Finder for Your Goal
Each finder covers a different category: the
Gem Finder for gems, the
Metal Finder for metals, and the
Mineral Finder for minerals more generally. Before heading out, decide what you actually need. If you are short on iron for armor, bring the Metal Finder. If you are chasing diamonds, bring the Gem Finder. If you just want a broad haul of ore, the Mineral Finder is the flexible choice. Carry the one that matches your target in your main hand so it stays active.
A Practical Mining Loop
Start by walking a known cave or mining corridor with your chosen finder equipped. When it pings, stop and sweep left and right to find the direction where the signal strengthens. Mine toward that point, collect the ore, and continue. If you are hunting multiple ore types, swap finders as your needs change—keep the others in your hotbar for quick switching. Remember that the finder only works while held, so put it back in hand after fighting mobs or placing blocks. Combining the finders with branch mining lets you cover ground quickly while still reacting to every signal. This loop—walk, ping, triangulate, dig, repeat—turns each finder into a reliable guide instead of a novelty, and keeps your mining trips focused on the ores you actually want.
