Improved Hoes Mod 1.18.1, — Guide

Mechanics

The mod modifies the fundamental interaction between players, hoes, and crops. These mechanics are divided into three primary actions: Tilling, Harvesting, and Replanting.

Area of Effect (AoE) Tilling

When right-clicking on Dirt, Grass, or Grass Paths with a hoe, the mod will automatically till all eligible blocks within the hoe's specific range. This allows for the rapid creation of massive farmlands without the need for individual block clicks.

Harvesting and Replanting

Improved Hoes introduces a smart harvesting system that detects the growth stage of crops. * Harvest & Replant: Right-clicking a fully grown crop with a hoe will harvest the crop and immediately replant a seed in its place, provided the player has the necessary seeds in their inventory. This action occurs across the entire range of the hoe. * Harvest Only: Left-clicking a crop with a hoe will harvest all crops within the hoe's range without replanting them.

Toolless Interaction

The mod also enhances basic player interactions when no hoe is equipped: * Right-click crop: Harvests and replants a single block. * Left-click crop: Harvests a single block.

Precision Control

To perform standard vanilla actions (such as tilling or harvesting only a single block while holding a high-tier hoe), players can hold the Shift (Sneak) key. This bypasses the mod's logic and reverts to default Minecraft behavior.

Hoe Tiers and Ranges

The effectiveness of a hoe is determined by its material. Higher-tier materials cover a significantly larger area, centered on the block the player interacts with.

Hoe Material Range Total Area Covered
Wood 1x1 1 Block
Stone 3x3 9 Blocks
Iron 5x5 25 Blocks
Gold 5x5 25 Blocks
Diamond 7x7 49 Blocks
Netherite 9x9 81 Blocks

Note: Gold hoes share the same range as Iron hoes, providing a high-efficiency alternative despite lower durability.
