Enigmatica 2 Modpack — Reference

Core Mechanics

Enigmatica 2 introduces several gameplay mechanics that fundamentally change the survival experience.

Questing System

The quest book is the heart of the pack. It is divided into several chapters, including: * Getting Started: Basic survival, Tinkers' Construct, and early-game tools. * Industrialization: Progression through Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, and Immersive Engineering. * Magic: Guides for Thaumcraft, Astral Sorcery, and Botania. * End Game: Draconic Evolution and creative-tier items.

Nutrition & Food

The pack uses the Nutrition mod, which tracks five food categories. Maintaining high levels provides buffs, while low levels result in debuffs.

Category Source Examples Buff (at >90%) Debuff (at <10%)
Dairy Milk, Cheese Resistance Weakness
Fruit Apples, Berries Speed Slowness
Grain Bread, Pasta Haste Mining Fatigue
Protein Meat, Tofu Strength Hunger
Vegetable Carrots, Corn Toughness Poison

Ore Excavation

Players can mine entire veins of ore or chop down whole trees by holding a specific key (default: ~ or Grave). This consumes hunger and tool durability rapidly but significantly speeds up resource gathering.

Mobs & Entities

Enigmatica 2 adds numerous hostile and passive entities through various mods.

Notable Mobs

Mob Name Mod Spawn Location Behavior / Drops
Cultist Knight Thaumcraft Crimson Portals Aggressive; drops Cultist armor and Void Seeds.
Pech Thaumcraft Magical Biomes Neutral; can be traded with for rare items.
Wither Cat EmberRoot Zoo Nether / Dark areas Aggressive; fast-moving and inflicts Wither.
Ancient Warfare NPC Ancient Warfare Structures Varies; can be hostile raiders or friendly villagers.
Dragon Ice and Fire Caves / Peaks Extremely dangerous; drops Dragon Hearts and Scales.

Bosses

  • Chaos Guardian (Draconic Evolution): Found at the center of Chaos Islands in the End. The most difficult boss in the pack, requiring Draconic-tier gear to defeat.
  • Gaia Guardian (Botania): Summoned at a Ritual of Gaia. Drops Spirits of Gaia used for high-tier relics.

Tools & Weaponry

Standard vanilla tools are often nerfed to 1 durability, forcing players to use advanced tool systems.

Tinkers' Construct

The primary tool mod. Players create tools by casting parts from various materials. * Smeltery: A multiblock used to melt metals and cast tool parts. * Modifiers: Tools can be upgraded with items like Quartz (Sharpness), Redstone (Haste), and Mending Moss (Auto-repair).

Spartan Weaponry

Adds a wide variety of weapons including Halberds, Rapiers, and Greatswords, many of which can be crafted using Tinkers' Construct materials.
