Traveling Downstream
Dynamic Waters' active currents push boats and other objects along river channels, making water travel practical and directional.
1. Craft a boat and travel to a flowing river
2. Place the boat in the water and board it
3. The current will automatically push you downstream toward lower elevation
4. Steer using standard boat controls to avoid obstacles and navigate bends
5. Follow branching rivers to explore new terrain
Tips for River Navigation
- Downstream travel is faster and requires minimal effort—let the current do the work
- Upstream travel is slower; you'll need to actively paddle against the flow
- Delta regions have weaker, divided currents; navigate carefully through multiple channels
- Mountain streams flow quickly; watch for waterfalls and sudden elevation changes
- Use rivers to connect distant biomes efficiently
The realistic flow system means rivers become natural highways through your world. Plan routes that follow water downhill for easier exploration, or challenge yourself by paddling upstream to discover mountain sources.
