Spot Dropped Blocks That Blend Into Terrain
The Blending Problem
When you mine blocks like sand, gravel, or netherrack and they drop, they visually blend into the surrounding terrain. Without highlighting, you'll waste time searching for drops that are right in front of you.
How Highlighting Solves This
The glowing outlines make dropped blocks stand out against identical terrain. A dropped sand block glows clearly against a sand dune. Netherrack drops become visible in dark cave systems. This is invaluable when mining large areas or strip-mining for resources.
Best Practices
When mining blocks that match your surroundings:
- Keep highlighting enabled to track all your drops
- Pause occasionally to scan for glowing outlines
- Use the outlines to confirm you haven't missed any blocks before moving on
Filtering Bulk Blocks
If you're mining common blocks you don't need (like extra dirt or stone), add them to your filter list so they don't clutter your view. This lets you focus on highlighting only the valuable drops you actually want to collect, making large mining operations much more efficient.
