How to Make Pickles and Use the Vat

Pickling is one of the standout processes in Cultural Delights, and it revolves around the Vat block.

Getting Started

First, grow or find Cucumbers from wild cucumber plants. You will also need a Vat, which is the multiblock/block used for pickling and similar liquid-based processing. Craft the Vat according to its recipe (check JEI/REI for the exact ingredients in your version), then place it down.

The Pickling Process

Place cucumbers into the Vat along with the required liquid (typically a brine or acid-based solution — the mod includes an Acid item used in some processes). The Vat processes the input over time and outputs Pickles. Collect pickles and store them in a Pickle Crate for bulk storage.

What Pickles Are For

Pickles are used in recipes like Calamari Roll and other roll-style dishes. They also work as a standalone snack food. Because pickling converts perishable cucumbers into a longer-lasting item, it is a good way to preserve a large harvest.

Tips

• Set up multiple Vats if you are processing large batches — each Vat handles one job at a time.
• Keep a steady cucumber farm running so the Vat never sits idle.
• Check the Vat's GUI for progress; it will not run without all required inputs.
