Creating Arrow Marks

Arrows help you navigate back to base or mark tunnel branches. To create an arrow, hold chalk and right-click on the corner or edge of a block—not the center. The arrow will point in the direction of the corner you clicked.

Choosing Your Direction

Think of each block face as divided into sections. Clicking near the top-left corner points up-left, clicking the right edge points right, and so on. Experiment by clicking different corners of the same block to see all four directional arrows available per face.

Making Arrows Visible in Caves

Regular chalk marks fade in darkness. For caving, use Glow Chalk instead—craft it with Calcite, Glow Ink Sac, and Dye. Glow Chalk marks remain visible in total darkness and emit faint light, making them ideal for deep cave systems.

Alternatively, hold Glowstone Dust or Glowing Ink Sac in your offhand while drawing with regular chalk to make marks glow automatically.

Fixing Mistakes

Simply draw a new mark over the old one. No need to break the block first.
