Understanding Pattern Variety

Chalk Mod offers 33 unique patterns beyond basic arrows and X-marks. These patterns provide visual variety and allow you to create detailed marking systems. While arrows and X-marks are the primary navigation tools, additional patterns let you communicate more complex information.

Building a Marking System

Design a personal code using different patterns and colors. For example:

• Arrows for direction and paths
• X-marks for hazards or completed areas
• Other patterns for specific resources, base locations, or waypoints

With 16 colors combined with 33 patterns, you have hundreds of unique mark combinations available.

Discovering Patterns

Experiment by clicking different areas of blocks—the center, edges, and corners all produce different results. Some patterns may only appear when using specific chalk colors or when marks are glowing.

Consistency Matters

Once you establish what each pattern means, stick to it. This prevents confusion during long mining sessions and makes your tunnel system readable to other players on multiplayer servers.
