Animal Bikes Mod — Guide
Getting Started
Before you can ride any mob, you must craft the core components. The mod adds three essential utility items and one smelting recipe to facilitate bike creation.
Essential Items
| Item | Description | Crafting Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Rawhide | A dense material used to create saddles. | 9x Leather |
| Saddle | The base component for every bike recipe. | 3x Rawhide, 1x String, 1x Iron Ingot |
| Fossil | Used specifically for crafting the Dinosaur Bike. | 4x Charcoal, 4x Coal, 1x Bone |
Utility Mechanics
- Leather Smelting: You can cook Rotten Flesh in a furnace to produce Leather. This provides a sustainable way to gather the large amounts of leather required for Rawhide.
- Saddle Stacking: Unlike vanilla saddles, Animal Bikes saddles can be stacked up to 8 per slot.
Flying Bikes
Flying bikes are the most sought-after mounts in the mod, allowing for rapid aerial traversal. Most flying bikes use the Spacebar to ascend and descend automatically when the key is released.
- Ender Dragon Bike: The ultimate flying mount. It can breathe fire if the player right-clicks while holding Flint and Steel. By default, this fire does not damage terrain unless changed in the gamerules.
- Wither Bike: A powerful flying mount that shoots Wither Skulls if the player uses a Bow while riding. These skulls can destroy blocks if mob griefing is enabled.
- Chinese Dragon Bike: A long, serpentine dragon that comes in multiple colors. Right-clicking with Gunpowder causes it to launch fireworks.
- Bat Bike: A small, agile flyer that grants the player Night Vision while mounted, making it ideal for cave exploration or night travel.
- Ghast Bike: Shoots fireballs when the player uses Gunpowder. By default, it can only be summoned in the Nether or The End.
- Reindeer Bike: A festive flying mount that allows for smooth aerial movement. It is often used for its high visibility and steady flight path.
- Flower Bike: A giant, ridable flower. While it can fly, it is significantly slower than other aerial mounts, making it a more aesthetic choice.
Land and Utility Bikes
These bikes are designed for ground travel, combat support, or specialized utility tasks like mining and animal husbandry.
Combat and Movement
- Spider Bike: Allows the player to climb vertical walls automatically. It is slightly slower than other land bikes but offers unmatched verticality.
- Wolf Bike: A loyal companion that attacks hostile mobs within a 10-block radius. It will also attack anything that hits the player. Holding a Bone will pacify the wolf, preventing it from attacking.
- Iron Golem Bike: A high-durability mount. Pressing the Spacebar causes the golem to perform a smash attack, launching nearby enemies into the air.
- Snow Golem Bike: Leaves a trail of snow wherever it walks. Pressing the Spacebar allows the player to fire snowballs at targets.
Utility and Speed
- Dino Bike: Comes in three variants: T-Rex (fast), Triceratops (high health), and Pterodactyl (flying). The Dino Bike will automatically pick up any passive animal it runs into; press Shift to drop the animal.
- Silverfish Bike: A specialized mining mount. If the player holds a Pickaxe, the Silverfish will "eat" through blocks in front of it. Holding Shift while mining will cause it to dig downwards.
- Squid Bike: Extremely fast in water but moves at a crawl on land. It does not suffocate out of water.
- Pig Bike: One of the fastest land mounts in the mod. However, it is notoriously difficult to control once it reaches top speed.
- Bunny Bike: Features a massive jump height. It also has a chance to drop eggs periodically while being ridden.
Special Bikes
Some bikes are added for novelty or unique interactions that don't fit standard categories.
- Pony Bike: Based on the "My Little Pony" style, these come in four types: Ground, Unicorn, Pegasus (flying), and Alicorn (flying + magic). They can be dyed into dozens of different character colors.
- Enderman Bike: Pressing the Spacebar causes the bike to teleport the player a short distance forward in the direction they are looking.
- Slime Bike: This bike cannot walk; it moves exclusively by bouncing. Timing your jumps as you land will cause the Slime to bounce higher and higher.
- Ocelot Bike: When summoned, it spawns three smaller cats that follow the main bike around. It is primarily a cosmetic mount.
- Notch Bike: A giant floating head of Minecraft's creator. It serves as a fast, humorous land mount.
- Creeper Bike: A green land mount. While it doesn't explode on its own, it is affected by the terrain damage gamerules and is often used for its unique aesthetic.
Mechanics and Controls
Basic Interaction
- Spawning: Right-click with the Bike item in your hand to spawn the entity.
- Mounting: Right-click the spawned bike with an empty hand to begin riding.
- Dismounting: Press the standard sneak key (default Left Shift).
- Retrieving: To turn the bike back into an item, hold Shift and Right-click the bike.
Customization
Most bikes can be dyed. To change the color of your mount, right-click it while holding any standard Minecraft dye. This works for the Ender Dragon, Wolf, Pony, Sheep, and many others.

- Spacebar: The primary action key. It is used for flying (Ender Dragon, Bat), jumping (Bunny, Slime), attacking (Iron Golem), or special abilities (Enderman teleport).

- Flint and Steel: Fire breath (Ender Dragon).
- Gunpowder: Fireworks/Fireballs (Chinese Dragon, Ghast).
- Bow: Wither Skulls (Wither).
- Pickaxe: Digging (Silverfish).
- Bone: Pacify (Wolf).
