Using the Shader for Challenge Runs and Joke Playthroughs
Setting Up a Challenge Run
Ugly High Contrast Shaders is designed as a visual joke and difficulty modifier. The extreme contrast genuinely makes gameplay harder by reducing visibility and creating disorienting shadows. Use this intentionally for challenge runs.
Challenge Ideas
Try a speedrun where you navigate to a goal location despite poor visibility. The harsh lighting forces you to move carefully and plan routes around dark areas.
Attempt mining or building tasks on a timer. The visual strain and reduced visibility make normally simple tasks surprisingly difficult.
Play a survival mode where you avoid dying despite the shader's visibility penalties. Managing light sources becomes a real resource concern.
Create a "joke difficulty" playthrough where you document the absurd visuals. The shader's wacky aesthetic makes for entertaining screenshots and videos—the intentionally ugly contrast creates memorable moments.
Tips for Content
If recording or streaming, warn viewers about the visual intensity. The extreme contrast and bright areas can be uncomfortable to watch. Take breaks between sessions to avoid eye strain. The shader's humor comes from its deliberate ugliness, so lean into that in your commentary.
