Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware
Lower Visual Quality Settings
Toon Shades is designed for potato computers, but you can optimize further. Access shader settings and disable or reduce:
- Shadow quality (if present)—lower resolution shadows reduce GPU load
- Ambient occlusion or shading detail—these add depth but cost performance
- Foliage complexity—simpler leaf rendering helps on weak systems
Reduce Render Distance and Effects
In your main Minecraft graphics settings, lower render distance to 8–12 chunks. Disable fancy graphics and set particles to minimal. These changes work alongside the shader to keep frame rates stable.
Monitor and Adjust
Use F3 debug screen to watch FPS. If you still experience lag, reduce cartoon effect intensity—simpler shading calculations mean faster rendering. Test in different biomes; dense forests and water-heavy areas demand more resources than plains.
