Adjust Your Eyes to Darkness in Caves
Understanding Night Vision Adaptation
Realistic Dark Shaders simulates how your character's eyes gradually adjust to low light, similar to real human vision. When you enter a dark cave or mine, the screen won't instantly brighten—instead, your vision will slowly improve over several seconds as your eyes adapt.
How to Use This Mechanic
When exploring caves:
1.** After stepping into darkness, pause for a few seconds. Your vision will gradually improve as the shader processes the adaptation.
2. Use torches strategically. Place torches to create pools of light. Your adapted eyes will see the surrounding darkness more clearly than if the area were uniformly lit.
3. Avoid sudden light changes. Moving between bright and dark areas will reset your adaptation. This is intentional—it mirrors real eye adjustment and adds immersion.
4. Be patient in deep caves. The deeper you go, the longer adaptation takes. This encourages careful, methodical exploration rather than rushing through darkness.
Tips for Comfort
If the darkness feels too extreme, remember that your character is adapting realistically. The effect becomes less jarring once you understand it's working as intended. Consider mining near the surface first to get used to the mechanic before tackling deep caves.
