Troubleshoot Fog Clipping and Visibility Issues

Address Fog That's Too Thick

If fog obscures too much of your view or makes navigation difficult, reduce the fog density setting. You can also raise the height threshold so fog only appears in very low areas. Test changes in a deep ravine or cave to see the effect clearly.

Fix Fog That Disappears Too Quickly

If fog seems to vanish as soon as you climb slightly, increase the fog falloff gradient. This makes the density transition more gradual. Alternatively, lower the height threshold to push the fog layer higher.

Resolve Fog Clipping at Render Distance

If you notice fog suddenly cutting off at the edge of your view distance, this is normal behavior—fog respects your render distance limit. Increase render distance if you want fog to extend further, though this impacts performance.

Check Compatibility

Ensure no other shader or mod is overriding fog settings. Disable conflicting visual mods temporarily to isolate the issue. If fog behaves unexpectedly only in specific areas, the terrain elevation may be unusual—check your coordinates and terrain height.
